Gold, jelly beans and the Golden Gate
After panning for gold we traveled to the Empire Mine near Grass Valley, California: it started in the mid-1800's and refined its last bar of gold in 1957. Then we headed west to San Francisco, stopping enroute at the Jelly Belly factory for a tour (and free samples). Our roommate on the trip is Will's classmate Noah and his dad and he and will demonstrated the hats we had to wear during the tour. We then continued to the City by the Bay crossing the Bay Bridge from Oakland and later Will and I walked fron our hotel to Aliotos Restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf where we consumed wonderful Italian seafood dishes while watching sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge.

We are the average California family with a 30,000 square foot mansion, six luxury cars, five servants and a wardrobe of flip flops and shorts (actually - not). We are in fact, a family of 3 that loves Southern California, even in these recessionary times!
